How Hugh Laurie Landed the Famous Role on House

Hugh Laurie is an English actor, among other things, but is best known for his leading role on the television show House. At the start of his career, he did various television and comedy shows and other various projects. Laurie then had many film appearances in movies such as Flight of the Phoenix and Stuart Little. Eventually he became a huge name to the American public when he starred as the role of Dr. Gregory House on the medical drama House.
Hugh Laurie got the part by his audition tape. He was in Namibia filming Flight of the Phoenix and sent in an audition tape while using his very convincing American accent. Executive producer Brian Singer was so impressed that he got the part and is now House on the hit Fox television show. The producer was not even aware that Laurie was English. This role has earned Hugh Laurie many awards including Emmy award and several others. People love this medical drama and continue to watch. It is amazing how a convincing accent combined with talent and a great audition tape can change an actor’s life forever. America loves the show and it remains as one of the best television shows on TV.
