Hugh quotes from the Fox TCA party

From USA Today:
House's Lisa Edelstein, who plays hospital administrator Lisa Cuddy, had a little naughtiness on her mind, too. She suggested how her character's relationship with House (Laurie) should play out: "I'd say we should have a one-night stand that fails miserably. But that's just me."

Laurie said he doesn't want to know what's going to happen on the show. "I don't even want to know what's going to happen after lunch," he joked.

When asked how life has changed since the show got so big, he said, "If I had a life, I'm sure it would be very different. I go from 6 in the morning till 10 at night — work, work, work. Then I watch a TiVo'd version of American Chopper while I eat my cold spaghetti, and I go to bed. That's my life."

When the show was on hiatus, he did "a big fat nothing. I went back to England, and I walked the dog and played the piano."

More from the TCA Awards

Fun blog post from Milwaukee Journal Sentinel critic Joanne Weintraub:

Imagine me and Hugh...
Excerpt:

Did in fact participate in Sunday night's TCA awards ceremony, a less glitzy alternative to the Emmys, and received dignified but, I like to think, meaningful peck on the cheek from the REAL Dr. McDreamy, never mind Patrick Whatsisname over at "Grey's Anatomy."

Hugh to present on Emmys

Hugh has been selected as a presenter for the Emmy broadcast. The show airs August 27 on NBC, with Conan O'Brien as host. Interviewed while filing a promo, Conan cited House as one of his favorite shows.

Emmy Slap: Critics Give Laurie a Laurel

Excerpt from article in the Kansas City Star:

Laurie also was touched, and charming, as he accepted the award for outstanding individual achievement in drama for the second straight year. The British actor and Formula One racing fan told the critics that he felt like driver Michael Schumacher, “who has been given a very, very fast car to drive” in the form of “House.”

Best Drama Emmy Nomination for House

Congratulations to cast and crew for being nominated in the Best Drama and Best Casting categories. It's disappointing that Hugh did not make the cut in Best Actor, but great for the entire team that the show was recognized. Hugh's omission has raised a few eyebrows among TV critics.

James Gandolfini as Tony Soprano and Hugh Laurie as Dr. Gregory House are two of the powerhouse performances in TV history and the actors were at the top of their game this past season. Leaving them out is a bit like leaving Babe Ruth or Hank Aaron or Sandy Koufax out of baseball's All-Star Game at the height of their careers. - Charlie McCollom

The Emmy nominators for 2006 made room for lots of new blood - Kyra Sedgwick in TNT's "The Closer," for starters.
As usual, though, they made some blatantly absurd errors of omission.

Start with Hugh Laurie. Though the Fox medical series "House," like ABC's medical series "Grey's Anatomy," made the Outstanding Drama Series cut for the first time in its sophomore season, Laurie himself was snubbed in the Outstanding Lead Actor category. That's ridiculous, since without House, there is no "House." Laurie's performance is too central, and too good, to be ignored - yet it was. - New York Daily News
