Hugh Laurie is an English actor, among other things, but is best known for his leading role on the television show House. At the start of his career, he did various television and comedy shows and other various projects. Laurie then had many film appearances in movies such as Flight of the Phoenix and Stuart Little. Eventually he became a huge name to the American public when he starred as the role of Dr. Gregory House on the medical drama House.
Hugh Laurie got the part by his audition tape. He was in Namibia filming Flight of the Phoenix and sent in an audition tape while using his very convincing American accent. Executive producer Brian Singer was so impressed that he got the part and is now House on the hit Fox television show. The producer was not even aware that Laurie was English. This role has earned Hugh Laurie many awards including Emmy award and several others. People love this medical drama and continue to watch. It is amazing how a convincing accent combined with talent and a great audition tape can change an actor’s life forever. America loves the show and it remains as one of the best television shows on TV.

If you’ve recently purchased some direct tv deals you may have noticed an enticing if not abrupt new doctor on your TV – Hugh Laurie is best known now for his leading role as “House” on the same-named show but he’s got a lot of previous acting credits, too. Here are some of our favorite past works from him.
Sense and Sensibility: No one loves English period adaptations more than us and Hugh is just as wicked in this 1999 classic as he is on House. If you want to see his softer side, watch this film.
101 Dalmations: The real-life adaptation of the cartoon is worth a viewing in its own right but with Hugh playing the dastardly Jasper, it’s a downright must see. Who would have thought Dr. House was a kids’ star?
Friends: Yup, Hugh once starred on Friends, just like every other big actor these days. Catch him in the episode “Ross’ Wedding, Part II” as a disruptive and argumentative wedding guest, what else?
Think outside the TV! Hugh’s all over the place and you should check for his other appearances soon.

While House is perhaps one of the most popular shows on television, many viewers have called into the question Dr. House’s personal addiction to Vicodin. A real-life Dr. House, Dr. John House, has spoken out against the example set by Hugh Laurie’s character and points to the terrible damage that Vicodin abuse does to one’s hearing. When questioned, Hugh Laurie–who plays Dr. House–admitted that he experimented with the potent painkiller when he prepared for the role and found the results to be enjoyable.

Despite a caution to be careful, Laurie did speak about the pleasurable feeling that Vicodin gives. This is a terrible message to be sending to the millions of viewers of the television show House: a doctor medicating patients, while indulging in addiction and not behaving contritely for a minute. While House does kick the addiction several times throughout the show’s seven seasons, he never gives it up completely.

What motivation is there to avoid forming drug-use habits if House’s show says that by having a reason–his pain–to use drugs illegally, it’s alright, and in fact will make you a funnier, more well-liked and intelligent person. The damage is compounded when the actor himself indulges in the same.

Hough Laurie plays the main doctor character on the show famously knowing as House. As the character Dr. House, Hough portrays a physician who will do what it take, even break the ethical laws of medicine, to get the job done and save a life. Sometimes it is hard to tell whether his dedication is for the sake of boosting his pride or for the sake of the patient. Either way, his brilliance, wit and willingness to break the rules, always saves the day. But what does the real Hough Laurie think of the medical world and its practices?
In several interviews the actor shows an on the fence or double sided views on his own character and the ways medicine is practiced in the real world. He supports his characters actions in many cases stating that sometimes breaking the rules and stepping over boundaries of how things “should be done” is the right way to go if it means bettering or saving a life. Of course, he has no complaints about medical practices as they are today except to say that sometimes you have to try something new, think outside of the box and test new theories in order to advance the common knowledge of medicine.

Famous Hugh Laurie Fans in Hollywood are gathering to welcome the famous actor during his stay there, which he has made all the more spectacular by driving around in a 1966 Ford Galaxie convertible, which is just one of many cars in his collection.

Laurie was born in that university town of Oxford, and attended Eton University. He also became a member of the rowing club Leander Club, and appeared in the Eurythmics’ video for the song “Walking on Broken Glass.”

The great actor has been in two shows that I enjoyed watching. From 1990 to 1993, he was in the film based on P. G. Wodehouse’s “Jeeves and Wooster,” depicting the humorous adventures of a bumbling socialite who gets by the help of his more intelligent servant. One of the funniest episodes is “Jeeves Saves the Cow Creamer,” in which Wooster comes up with all sorts of words” including “eureka,” “Euripides,” and “eucalyptus”" in order to remember the name “Eulalie.”

The other show starring Laurie is “House,” where he plays a doctor who is a medical Sherlock Holmes (and like him, is addicted to cocaine). He and his team rule out various possibilities trying to reach the true diagnosis.

Hugh Laurie is one of the most popular television actors in Hollywood today thanks to his leading role on the FOX medical drama House. Like many others in the entertainment industry he had a long road to the top. He is mostly widely known for his dramatic roles but he actually started out as a comedian in England. You probably would also be surprised to know that he is British because he speaks with an American accent on the show.

He was born in Oxford, England. Like many others he started out by taking some drama classes in college while studying an entirely different major and the bug bit. He then started out a comedic duo in the UK called Fry and Laurie with his comedic partner at the time Stephen Fry.

He later segued into dramatic acting doing different theater roles in England in the West End theaters. After honing his skills he moved to America. He got one his first major American movie roles in the 1995 movie Sense and Sensibility and then had starring roles in all three of the Stuart Little movies as one of the bad guys hunting down the mouse. This led to too his starring role in the House series and since then he has been one of the most popular actors in Hollywood.

For the past 30 years, one of the most successful actors in Hollywood has been Oxford, England born Hugh Laurie. Laurie is best known for his lead role on the hit television show “House,” which features his as Dr. Gregory House. While his role in the hit television show has made him one of the most popular actors in the world, Laurie has had a long and successful career before he ever took that role.

Laurie first entered the entertainment scene in the early 1980s and through the decade, as well as part of the 1990s, he appeared in a variety of television series including some sketch comedy programming. By the mid 1990s, Laurie began to make appearances in many different films in both the UK and the United States. Some of the films which Laurie appeared in included “101 Dalmatians,” the remake of “Flight of the Phoenix,” and all three of the “Stuart Little” movies.

Following his role in the American films, Laurie was considered a favorite to win the role of Dr Gregory House. In 2004 he was named as the starring role in the series as he beat out several other notable actors. In 2005 he was nominated for an Emmy for that role.
